Sophie Castell

Director of Relationships at Royal National Institute of Blind People


Sophie joined Royal National Institute of Blind People in 2017 and leads marketing, communications and fundraising for the organisation, working with supporters to raise the money needed to continue their vital work, and making sure people know about the work of RNIB and what the organisation stands for.

Sophie initially worked as a research scientist and holds a PhD in biochemistry. Since then her career has focused on innovation and marketing including executive, non-executive and interim roles across the commercial, voluntary and public sectors in the UK and USA. She has worked with a diverse range of organisations including Coca-Cola, Unilever Ventures, Canal & River Trust, Save the Children and the NHS and has also run her own marketing consultancy practice.

Outside of RNIB, Sophie is Mum to Nicholas and likes to sing. She is also Trustee of the National Autistic Society.
