Michelle van Velthoven

Associate Director in Human-Centered AI at AstraZeneca

Bio

In my role, I support cross-functional teams that use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science to develop digital therapeutics, diagnostics, and endpoints. The Digital Health team delivers innovative technologies to transform patients’ healthcare journeys, redefine clinical trials, and accelerate the delivery of new medicines to patients.

Prior to joining AstraZeneca, I worked at the University of Oxford on improving health outcomes with digitally enabled interventions. I held a Sir David Cooksey Fellowship in healthcare translation and was a member of the Senior Common Room at Wadham College.

Using innovation to make healthcare more centred around people is my passion. My Ph.D. in digital health is from Imperial College London. I grew up in the Netherlands where I obtained an MSc in Health Technology Assessment and BSc in Biomedical Sciences from Radboud University Nijmegen.
