Distinguished Designer at IBM

Bio

Joni Saylor is an experienced design leader, passionate about the intersection of design and business strategy. As a design technical executive focused on the IBM Garage, she’s on a mission to help IBM’s clients imagine, prove, and scale innovative ideas that digitally transform enterprise.

Previously, Joni directed IBM’s Enterprise Design Thinking practice, scaling in-person and digital learning experiences that drove cultural change across IBM’s workforce of 350,000. She also led Designcamp, a 12-week on-boarding program that has prepared over 1000 design graduates to join IBM’s product and service teams— bridging the gap between university and enterprise with an invaluable “missing semester.” Saylor is recognized as a leader in creating and disclosing intellectual property and has held senior positions in design research and industrial design.

Other career highlights include: teaching the InnovationSpace design studio at Arizona State University, consulting The New York Foundation for the Arts in the development of their Arts Business Incubator, and advancing opportunities for mid-career women through deep collaboration with IBM’s Global Executive Women’s Council.

Joni regularly speaks with design and business audiences on experience design and business transformation.
