Hege Sæbjørnsen is the Country Sustainability Manager for IKEA UK & Ireland, responsible for all aspects of the retailer’s sustainability strategy. Hege joined IKEA in May 2015 as Sustainability Expansion Manager, leading the integration of sustainability into the expansion agenda at a time of rapid growth for the business. She was a key member of the team behind the Greenwich sustainable store project, just launched, and has been instrumental in co-developing IKEA’s Role in Society strategic direction. Current focus areas include IKEA’s ambition to phase out single use plastics by 2019, enabling 1 billion people to live better lives, becoming a circular retailer, and fulfilling on our EV100 commitments.
Prior to joining IKEA, Hege led and developed cross sector social impact programmes and social and cultural enterprises, with the focus to tackle social, environmental and economic challenges in partnership with the likes of UnLtd, the Cabinet office, Big Lottery Fund and the Refugee Council.
