Guido Schwartz

Director NewSpace & STEM at Foundation for Space Development Africa


Guido Schwartz has a long track record in innovation and technology transfer. His focus is since more than a decade on the space domain especially in an African context. He supports and coaches start-ups on the African continent and could co-launched some years ago the first continent-wide African startup call on aerospace. He pushes as part of the Foundation for Space Development Africa the #NewSpace movement that focuses on the commercialisation of space activities. Furthermore does his organization support STEM activities for the next generation of aerospace enthusiasts.

During the last 15 years he has worked in different roles in the mobility sector. Guido worked in cross-industry collaborations and also initiated R&T cooperations with a focus on Southern Africa. He has been present on the African continent for more than 26 years. He holds a master degree in International relations and an M.B.A. Guido advocates for a stronger cooperation between Africa and Europe when it comes to aerospace activities since Africa is the continent of tomorrow. He is excited to display the long African space heritage which empowers the need for creative and commercial space solutions today.
