Emma King

Head of Premium, Luxury and Lifestyle Design at Intercontinental Hotels

I currently lead InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Design team in Europe and I’m responsible for the design, development and product quality of all new openings and refurbishments. I am also responsible for the design of IHG’s big capital investments including InterContinental London Park Lane, InterContinental Paris Le Grand and InterContinental Berlin. I am tasked with the integration of the innovation program at IHG, and have worked on the repositioning strategy and implementation of the new generation Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza Brand and the creation of the new voco conversion brand. Myself and my team have been instrumental in positioning the Hotel Indigo brand with a “neighbourhood story” led design for each site. IHG’s long stay offering, Staybridge Suites, also being redesigned with investment potential in mind.

Prior to joining IHG I was Director of International Interior Design at Marriott International and focussed on providing specialist guidance for submitted designs across the Marriott Brand family.

In my spare time I have my own personal development projects. A 300sqm new build house designed by myself and my husband has been featured in Grand Designs magazine, with a second new 450sqm house on the drawing board. I am also renovating an iconic apartment in the prime position of Weymouth Harbour.
